Blue Sky School in Ottawa is an innovative school that operates independently as a not-for-profit.
All tuition funds and donations go directly to creating and delivering a program that serves our learners in the most nurturing, supportive, engaging environment possible. Blue Sky School in Kanata
Our coaching staff of experienced, Ontario-certififed educators are very familiar with the Ontario curriculum, and other progressive curricula. Blue Sky School has created an enriched curriculum.
We build a responsive program with an individualized curriculum for all learners. Each learner works towards mastery throughout their time at Blue Sky School.
We have created a STEAMED+ curriculum - incorporating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts (including Language) Mathematics, Entrepreneurship and Design. The "plus" indicates a variety of other disciplines that we focus upon - including Mental Health and Wellness, Outdoor Education and Financial Literacy.
Our curriculum is t-shaped. We facilitate exposure to a broad range of subjects, experiences, people and ideas. Learners then dig deeply into areas of interest.
We provide support to all learners to build upon their strengths and interests and to coach them in areas of need.
Blue Sky School consists of Houses of 8-15 learners in multi-age groupings. Our learners are grade 5 to 10 age (10-17 years old).
Eventually, we will offer programming for grade 4-12 age learners.
Programming in our Full House program runs from 9:30-3:30 p.m. every Monday through Friday.
We offer an extended day to provide flexibility for families and time for our learners to continue their work. Learners can arrive anytime after 8:30 a.m. and must be picked up by 4:30 p.m.
